Dixons Carphone hires supply chain chief

Dixons Carphone has appointed Lindsay Haselhurst as its new chief supply chain officer.

She was previously global supply and logistics director at Kingfisher, and will now report to chief executive Alex Baldock after taking up the role on 27 January.

This is the latest of several senior hires by Dixons Carphone, including the appointment of Mark Allsop as chief digital officer, Andy Gamble as chief information officer and Paula Coughlan as chief HR officer.

Baldock said: “We’ve already made strong progress on transforming our supply chain; we’ve built the largest two-person home delivery network in the UK, increased right first-time deliveries and established a 300-strong engineer workforce for in-home repairs, whilst improving customer satisfaction.

“Lindsay is passionate about putting customers first and has a proven track-record in taking supply chain operations to the next level and developing a truly brilliant end-to-end customer experience.”

Meanwhile, the electronics retailer recorded a sales rise during the peak Christmas and Black Friday trading period.

The Carphone Warehouse owner said like-for-like sales were flat during the 10 weeks to 4 January, while total sales fell by two per cent on a reported currency basis.

Sales of electricals rose two per cent on a like-for-like basis across the group, while in its international markets, electricals sales were up three per cent on a like-for-like basis.

However, sales increases were offset by a drop in mobile phone sales, down nine per cent in like-for-like terms in the UK and Ireland.

Baldock commented: “Credit and services adoption rates increased, online sales grew strongly, and our newly remodelled stores performed well.”
