Sainsbury’s relaunches same day delivery

Sainsbury’s is relaunching its same day delivery and click & collect services across nearly 250 stores this week.

The supermarket retailer said that it would continue to roll out the service, adding 100 additional stores by the end of next month.

The company said that it is accelerating the growth of its on demand and fast delivery services in response to increasing customer demand for rapid groceries.

More than 100 Click & Collect stores have been added versus pre-pandemic levels.

Customers who book a same day slot before midday can now choose a home delivery slot for after 5pm or a store collection slot after 4pm.

Sainsbury’s revealed that it can now fulfil 850,000 online orders every week.

By the end of September, its delivery partnership with Deliveroo and Uber cover 500 stores.

Sainsbury's is also expanding its 60-minute Chop Chop service to a further 25 supermarkets, bringing the total to 75 stores in around 25 cities.

“Customer demand for shopping online and for getting groceries quickly and conveniently has grown significantly and we are committed to offering customers choice and flexibility – whether that’s within 20 minutes to their front door or picking it up at their local store on their way home from work,” said Nigel Blunt, Sainsbury’s director of e-commerce.
