The State of Retail Worker Safety

Alongside protecting the physical assets of your store, safety and security in-store is equally important.

The British Retail Consortium's (BRC) 2023 Crime Survey Report found that the number of violent shoplifting events in the UK are on the rise. They have almost doubled in the since 2020, with over 300,000 colleagues having suffered from a violent or abusive incident in the last year.

It is evident that in addition to loss prevention, protecting employees must be prioritised. Measures are being adopted by retailers to combat this problem, including body worn video cameras which are proven to deter and prevent harmful incidents.

Motorola Solutions remains committed to helping retail stores solve for safer. In response to determine and understand the state of retail worker safety today, we surveyed over 1,000 retail associates. Read more about what others in your industry are dealing with and the measures they are taking.
