Adyen has launched Tap to Pay on iPhone, bringing Apple’s contactless payment option to the retail market.
The Tap to Pay option allows businesses to use iPhones to accept contactless payments without the need to purchase or manage additional hardware.
Customers’ iPhones can be tapped near the retailer’s iPhone to make a transaction.
The payments FinTech said the service will initially be rolled out to the US market, facilitated by a partnership with NewStore.
US retailers Vince and Burton are some of the retail partners using Tap to Pay.
Adyen is also partnering with New Black to enable this capability for retailers including G-Star and Scotch & Soda.
In addition to offering the solution to partners, Tap to Pay on iPhone will also be made available directly to retailers and platforms including Nike, Lightspeed Commerce Inc, and Fresha.
Adyen said Tap to Pay offers a convenient and secure way to pay for customers since transactions are encrypted and payment data is protected by the same technology that makes Apple Pay private and secure.
Kamran Zaki, COO at Adyen said:“This new capability will change how consumers and businesses view mobile payments. Tap to Pay on iPhone is easy to use, and leverages the built-in security features of iPhone to keep your business and your customer data private and secure.”
“We are proud to officially be live, enabling businesses to give customers more choice and flexibility.”
