Alibaba International launches AI-powered e-commerce tool for US SMEs

Chinese e-commerce platform Alibaba International has launched its AI-powered, e-commerce marketing tool Pic Copilot in the US.

Pic Copilot is an AIGC product marketing image creation tool made for cross-border-e-commerce. The tool gathers information based on Alibaba International Station’s huge foreign trade product information database, training unique image models that aim to boost the unique selling points of products.

The latest version, built on 250 million parameters, is designed for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in and features twelve tools aimed at assisting with graphic tasks such as moving image backgrounds, refining images and videos, creating new ads and integrating virtual try-ons.

With the new tool, sellers can upload their own product images to generate product marketing images that meet various scenarios, designed to improve click-through rates.

Other features include AI background image generation, where retailers can upload their product image and Pic Copilot will replace the background with one of their choice. The feature also gives users the option to change light, shadow and texture.

The feature includes an AI model skin replacement, that can replace the model in the original image with a copyrighted exclusive model, allowing companies to change the model’s clothing and styling. The technology will enables businesses to create marketing material without the need to hire professional models.

The US version currently features virtual try-ons with more than 160 models across four major skin tones, while US graphic theme templates that can be specifically used for national holidays and celebrations such as Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and St. Patrick’s Day.

During the past two years, Alibaba has introduced several AI tools under its Copilot branding, with the firm seeking to find solutions that can boost a range of business operations.

In the US, merchants can also use large language model integrated across Alibaba’s services Tongy Qianwen and Smart Assistant, both designed to boost customer service and provide data-driven insights, improving responses to various requests.
