Asos has expanded its partnership with the marketplace SaaS platform Mirakl.
Through the Asos Partner Fulfils programme, powered by Mirakl, items are shipped directly to the customer form the brand rather than being stored in Asos’ fulfilment centres. The retailer says that this allows Asos to offer customers a broader range of products.
The programme is expanding from two to 23 brands across Europe and the UK. Asos said it has plans to add more brands to the programme in the future.
Asos claims the programme will enable the fashion retailer to offer different countries more local fashion items through partnerships with smaller business. By hosting their products on the Asos platform without holding stock or handling fulfilment, Asos said it can tailor its offering to customers in different markets.
Commenting on the news Cliff Cohen, chief technology officer at Asos, said: “The Partner Fulfils programme is a key tool to enable us to offer our customers better product availability and product width, with minimal impact on our own supply chain operations.”
Asos recently announced the appointment of Maersk as its strategic logistics partner for supply chain management. Under the new agreement, Maersk and the online fashion retailer will partner on supply chain management along with ocean and air services into all fulfilment centres globally.
