Co-Op Group appoints finance veteran Izzard as CFO

The Co-operative Group has announced the appointment of Rachel Izzard as its new chief financial officer.

Izard, who will also join Co-Op’s board, has held a number of senior leadership and CFO positions including at IFA Cargo and Aer Lingus. The exec joins from retailer N Brown, and will succeed current interim finance chief Mike Hazell at the end of his term in June.

Commenting on Izzard’s appointment, Shirine Khoury-Haq, Co-op Group chief exec said: “We’re delighted that Rachel is joining us at such an exciting time for our Co-op. We are all looking forward to welcoming her in June and her wealth of experience will enable us to continue to deliver our vision as a commercially successful co-operative.

Adding of the outgoing Hazell, Khoury-Haq said: “We’re grateful to Mike for the significant contribution he has made in strengthening the underlying financial position of our Co-op during his time here. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future and he will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues at Co-op.”

Elsewhere, the grocer has launched a Community Fridge project at Greenacres Community Centre in Oldham. The launch, which was announced by Oldham Council Leader Amanda Chadderton and Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, will aim to fight food insecurity in the area.
