Deliveroo rolls out UK Christmas tree delivery service ahead of festive season

Deliveroo is rolling out Christmas tree delivery service across the UK.

With the new service, users will be able to order fresh fir Christmas trees from selected local suppliers on the Deliveroo app, with same-day delivery.

The new service aims to offer a stress-free solution for Christmas tree delivery, with a particular focus on the million Brits who do not own a car, the company said.

The service will be available in various cities, including London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Coventry, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Local suppliers include Pines and Needles, with 16 outlets in London; Green Elf Christmas Trees with two outlets in London; We Tree Kings with nine outlets in the West Midlands; Ancoats Christmas Trees in Manchester; Sheepway Christmas Trees in Bristol; and Real Christmas Trees in Glasgow, as well as others.

Customers will be able to choose from trees of various sizes, ranging from three to 12 feet, with prices starting at £59.99. Some partners will also offer an optional installation service for those who want or need assistance in setting up their tree.

Christmas lights, baubles, garlands, gifts and more are also available in the Shopping section of the app for customers who need decorations.

Suzy McClintock, vice president of new verticals at Deliveroo, said that this initiative aims to make it easier for customers to prepare for the festive season.

“We know the run up to Christmas can be a hectic time and there aren't enough hours in the day, so between ordering in pizzas for Friendsmas, getting a top up of mince pies, and now getting your Christmas tree, Deliveroo has you covered,” she added.

The delivery company has been expanding its services this year, with the business announcing in June that it had been trialling food deliveries by drone in the Blanchardstown area of Dublin to enhance its delivery service.

The initiative, which marks the first time the company has offered drone deliveries to its customers, is being trialled in partnership with Manna, one of the largest drone delivery operators in Europe.

The firm delivers everything from medicine and food to books, completing 165,000 deliveries as of June.

The trial aims to test the practicality of using drones to serve customers in remote and hard-to-reach areas, complementing Deliveroo's existing network of bike and scooter couriers. .
