Dollar General hires SVP technology

US discount store company Dollar General has hired Tom Hutchins as SVP, technology.

Hutchins most recently served as vice president of technology and strategy at Tractor Supply Company.Tasks in his previous role included ensuring that the organisation’s technology kept pace with its needs whilst supporting customers and team members.

Prior to that, he worked at well-known retailers including Office Depot, where he spent more than two years working as an office manager, and AutoZone, where he was IT manager for more than nine years.

Hutchins brings more than 25 years of experience across IT and retail, with a particular focus on in application development and expertise in crafting business and technology strategies to boost company growth.

In his new role at Dollar General, Hutchins is tasked with overseeing the IT business integration and operations and services teams’ strategy, whilst driving strategic planning and business integration initiatives.

Carman Wenkoff, executive vice president and chief information officer, said the firm looks forward to leveraging Hutchins’ deep understanding of retail technology domains.

“His leadership and knowledge will play a pivotal role in helping DG to continue driving operational excellence, deliver value and ultimately better serve our employees, customers and communities,” she added.
