Specialised bakery chain Europastry has implemented a transport management system (TMS) to strengthen its operations across Europe and increase the efficiency, profitability and sustainability of its supply chain.
Headquartered in Barcelona, Europastry is present in more than 80 countries, through more than 5,000 bakers, 27 production plants and 30 commercial offices.
Through a partnership with consultancy BlueGistics and digital supply chain transformation firm Blue Yonder, the company has integrated a new system that provides real-time visibility into its transport operations.
The technology uses advanced analytics and machine learning to optimise routes, reduce transit times, and improve overall efficiency, with the aim of enabling the company to better plan and execute deliveries.
The new system also aims to improve the company's sustainability goals by optimising routes, reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions thanks to its reduced delivery times.
Andreu Venteo Casas, global supply chain director of Europastry, emphasised the complexity of managing transport routes and ensuring on-time deliveries in multiple regions for a company with a geographically extensive customer network such as Europastry.
He said that the new technology will enable the business to streamline our logistics operations, ensuring that its products are delivered quickly and sustainably.
