Fressnapf migrates 2,750 stores to cloud-based platform

Freesnapf, one of Europe's largest pet product retailers, is migrating its 2,750 stores to a cloud-based retail platform.

The platform, which is based on modular architecture, includes everything from POS and mobile consulting to self-service and smart devices.

The German retailer said that the migration will enable Freesnapf to expand its technology base for omnichannel customer engagement and a future-proof retail architecture across the 15 European countries it operates in.

With the move, the retailer said it aims to offer greater potential for making shop processes more flexible, enables a comprehensive omnichannel strategy and allows for even faster adjustments.

As part of the rollout, Fressnapf carried out a review of all digital touchpoints in its stores, including POS, in-store merchandise management, mobile consulting, customer experience and employee user experience.

The company has renewed its agreement with GK Cloud4retail software for the cloud migration.

Randy John, vice president of product development digital store solution at Fressnapf said: “We want to offer our stores and employees a solution that supports them in all services: a stable, user-friendly, and reliable POS system that can be constantly expanded with additional functions.”

Luxury watch retailer Watches of Switzerland Group also recently migrated onto a new multi-cloud platform as it sought to modernise its IT infrastructure.

The technology from SAP aims to unify application development, integration, data management, analytics, automation and AI and machine learning.

The move is part of a partnership with Bluestonex, a British company specialising in software and consulting for digital transformation using SAP technologies.

Last year, the Co-op Group said it would adopt a cloud-first strategy in a move aimed at supporting its business growth.

The consumer co-operative expanded its 14-year partnership with Tata Consultancy Services to deliver the new strategy.
