Swedish fast fashion giant has opened its first store in the Dominican Republic.
The new store in the country’s capital city Santo Domingo is located in the Ágora Mall.
Over 500 customers attended the opening at the end of November.
This latest opening means that H&M now operates in 78 markets around the world.
"After successful openings in the vibrant and exciting markets of Panama, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, we are thrilled to expand with our franchise partner Hola Moda by launching in the Dominican Republic,” said Samuel Miller, global head of franchise at H&M Group. “We can’t wait to offer fashion and creativity to our customers, empowering them to unleash their self expression."
In November, H&M announced plans to close its Edinburgh call centre by the end of this year, affecting 150 jobs at its Waverley Gate office location.
The retailer informed workers in August about proposals to shut the facility, which will cease operations from 14 December ahead of its final closure in March 2025 when the building's lease expires.
Elsewhere, H&M announced plans to open two standalone flagship stores selling only beauty products as the company looks to expand its reach beyond its core apparel business.
The stores, located in Stockholm, will carry the full line of H&M beauty products including makeup and fragrance as well as over 80 global and Scandinavian beauty brands.
