John Lewis appoints chief customer officer

John Lewis has announced the appointment of Anna Braithwaite as its chief customer officer.

She joins the firm from Marks & Spencer, where she worked for four years as marketing director for fashion home and beauty.

Prior to this, Braithwaite spent almost three years working as head of brand marketing for F&F clothes at Tesco and also held roles at clothing retailers Hobbs and Jacques Vert.

Braithwaite started her career at John Lewis, joining the firm as a graduate trainee and spending a decade in a variety of marketing roles.

In her new position, Braithwaite will be responsible for leading John Lewis brand and marketing across all channels, loyalty, customer experience, and creative and content teams.

She will join John Lewis on 1 October and report to Peter Ruis, managing director of John Lewis

“I’m thrilled that Anna is returning to John Lewis - her understanding of the John Lewis brand and her laser focus on the needs of customers makes her the ideal person to lead our customer and marketing strategy,” Ruis said. “I know that Anna will build on the John Lewis experience that our customers know and love.”

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
