Just Eat Takeaway.com (Just Eat) has launched drone deliveries in Dublin.
The drones are launched from local delivery hubs operated by Manna, the drone delivery business.
Just Eat said that once the food order is loaded onto the drone, customers will receive their orders in just three minutes.
Manna is one of the largest drone delivery operators in Europe, delivering everything from medicine and food to books.
The company says that it has completed 165,000 deliveries so far.
Just Eat said it plans to expand the drone service to more markets internationally.
Manna already operates within the pan-European regulatory framework established by EASA (the European Union's Aviation Safety Agency).
Manna added that it is also actively developing launch plans in collaboration with partners, local authorities and communities to expand its services to other European countries.
Jessica Hall, chief product officer, at Just Eat commented on the partnership: “This partnership is the latest in our continued commitment to finding and testing innovative ways of enabling everyday convenience and delivering best-in-class user experience.”
Just Eat has recently embarked on a series of tech roll outs, with the company last year announcing a partnership with Mercedes to offer in-car ordering.
This year it is expanding its AI assistant, already launched in the UK, to other markets.
The takeaway delivery app rolled out the assistant in Ireland and the Netherlands earlier this year, while in the coming months the service will be extended to Germany, Austria and Australia.
As part of the launch, consumers will be able to use the AI Assistant to search and place their orders via text and receive personalised recommendations, including discovering new restaurants and meals, giving them the ability to quickly find what they want on the platform.
Earlier this month, Global technology company Prosus announced the acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway.com (Just Eat) in a €4.1 billion deal.
South-Africa-based Prosus said the takeover would enable the firm to create a strong European food delivery platform and complement its other food delivery businesses.
