Lidl trials reservation service for limited sale products

Lidl has announced that it will trial a “Click, Reserve & Collect” service in the Lidl Plus app which will allow its customers to reserve products which are on sale for limited periods of time.

Through the service customers can reserve a “Middle of Lidl” product up to two weeks in advance of it arriving in store.

Users of the app will be able to select their preferred store for collection.

Lidl said the trial of the service builds on the success of the Lidl Plus app which launched in 2020. The app now has around 100 million users across all Lidl markets.

The first products to be trialled through the new scheme include a robot lawnmower and a weather-proof docking station.

“We’re always exploring bold new ways to enhance our customers’ shopping experience and are pleased to be in a position where we can bring this latest trial to life,” said Jassine Ouali, chief customer officer at Lidl GB. “We know how popular our Middle of Lidl deals are, and this trial will give our Lidl Plus customers the chance to secure a must-have item before it hits the shelves.”

Last month, Lidl announced it would invest £500,000 over the next two years to help children in the UK develop a love of healthy eating.

Lidl Foodies will provide interactive workshops on fruit and vegetables, with an aim of reaching a quarter of a million primary school children in the first year.
