MandM launches new AI-powered mobile app

UK online fashion and sportswear retailer MandM has launched a new mobile app which will combine AI-driven search capabilities with premium shopping features.

The app, developed in partnership with IT services company Valtech for both iOS and Android, uses uses advanced Google Cloud and Contentstack technologies while also harnessing AI designed to provide a personalised and intelligent shopping experience.

MandM said that the platform is set to include AI-powered search and browsing for improved product discoverability, as well as exclusive shopping functionalities with access to brands and products to build customer loyalty.

The app also incorporates inclusive features to meet accessibility standards and a scalable framework using Google’s Flutter software for easy and efficient UI updates.

MandM said that the framework complements its Google Cloud strategy by "laying the groundwork for deeper adoption of Google Cloud Platform services" to support intelligent localisation, scalable customer experiences, and rapid expansion into European markets.

The new mobile app is available now, with with AI-powered search and exclusive shopping functionalities to be introduced in the near future.

“We’ve not only gained technological sophistication, but also new ways of working and thinking when it comes to product innovation and prioritisation," said Tom Goode, customer and e-commerce director, MandM.

“The outcome is a turning point for our brand and sets us on the right path for the future.”

The retailer also has plans to expand the app's multilingual capabilities and refine its personalisation features.
