Marks & Spencer (M&S) has launched a new food store in Cavan, Ireland, complete with a Click and Collect service, as it continues to expand its footprint in the country.
The new store, which is situated on an Applegreen petrol forecourt in Cavan town, is part of the retailer’s ongoing partnership with the major forecourt and petrol retailer.
Applegreen currently operates 620 petrol stations in Ireland, the US and the UK.
The new “shop within a shop” concept offers over 400 M&S Food products, from fresh fruit, salads, and sandwiches to ready meals, sweet treats, and everyday essentials- including favourites such as Percy Pig sweets, M&S cookies, and Colin the Caterpillar cakes.
Customers can browse M&S products online and collect their items at the petrol station at a time convenient time slot.
Customers can also order fashion, home and beauty lines online to collect from the new location.
The launch is part of a rollout of 20 new outlets in 2025, bringing the total to 31 M&S Food outlets on Applegreen sites across Ireland, alongside 16 owned M&S stores.
Eddie Murphy, country director for M&S in Ireland and Northern Ireland said the rollout allows M&S to reach more customers, offering convenient ways to pick up M&S favourites on the go.
The move comes after the retailer announced last month plans to spend £340 million on the development of an advanced automated food distribution centre as part of its ambition to double the size of its food business.
The new 1.3 million sq. ft facility, which will be based in Northamptonshire, is set to open in 2029.
The depot will include an automated pallet crane for handling long-life ambient products, a high-speed shuttle system for sorting and storing stock, and a hands-free picking solution that loads items directly onto store-ready delivery cages.
