Ocado extends partnership with Groupe Casino

Ocado has announced the extension of its partnership with Groupe Casino.

As part of the extended partnership, Ocado will now create a joint venture to provide logistics services to Ocado Smart Platform (OSP)-powered customer fulfilment centres in France, which will available to all grocery retailers owned by the group.

OSP is currently being used by 11 companies around the world, including Auchan Retail Poland, which signed an agreement with Ocado to develop its online business in March.

Groupe Casino will also roll out OSP in-store fulfilment across its Monoprix stores.

The extension will also include a partnership for Ocado Group to integrate Octopia's marketplace platform into OSP, and allow OSP partners around the world to launch their own marketplace offering.

"This is a great milestone for our relationship with Groupe Casino as we extend the partnership in a number of exciting directions,” said Luke Jensen, chief executive, Ocado Solutions. "Our partnership demonstrates what can be achieved when a major retailer introduces a world-class quality of service online, enabled by unique efficiencies, to French consumers.

“I'm excited that Ocado Group's cutting-edge technologies are now available to all grocery retailers in France, with the new joint venture leveraging our combined expertise to provide key logistics services for future CFCs."

Earlier this month Ocado Group announced that it plans to raise £575 million from investors to help fund innovation at a faster pace and further invest in new technology.

The retail tech giant also wants to “make the most” of growing online grocery demand by ramping up capacity.
