Papa Johns is transitioning its legacy on-premise systems to an AI-powered unified enterprise platform as the company looks to boost operations across its 3,200 US restaurants.
Integrated through a partnership with foodservice tech provider PAR Technology Corporation, the new technology will bring front-of-house ordering, make-line operations, above-restaurant management, and AI-powered labour, inventory, and restaurant management onto one platform.
It added that the move aims to significantly reduce costs while boosting real-time data sharing through a consistent interface and unified support across the entire chain, enabling teams to operate with greater discipline and deliver a more consistent guest experience.
The platform has a layer of AI integrated throughout the platform, supported by open APIs and flexible middleware, with the aim of promoting smarter decision-making, rapid implementation of AI capabilities, and automation.
Its centralised nature aims to reduce the manual implementation of time-limited offers and promote a more robust submenu support system.
A full system rollout is planned across all US corporate and franchise locations by the end of 2027.
Kevin Vasconi, chief digital and technology officer at the franchise, said that the technology would give Papa Johns the “scale, performance, and support infrastructure” needed to better run the business. The partnership aligns with Papa John’s broader technology transformation strategy, including expanded use of AI and analytics through its recent partnership with Google Cloud.
Announced on Monday, the partnership will see Papa Johns become the first restaurant to use its agentic AI tool for food ordering.
The new omnichannel platform allows brands to deploy voice AI agents across mobile apps, websites, telephones, kiosks, and in-car systems.
The platform has several features including an “intelligent deal wizard” which automatically applies the best value combinations.
Papa Johns said this reduces cart abandonment, builds brand loyalty and speeds up the checkout process by removing the need for customers to leave the app to hunt for better promo codes.
Founded in 1984, Papa Johns is co-headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. and Louisville, Ky. and is the world's third-largest pizza delivery company with more than 6,000 restaurants in approximately 50 countries and territories.
