Shopify announces new leadership roles in EMEA

E-commerce platform Shopify has announced two new leadership roles in the EMEA region as the company continues to target efficiency and growth.

Deann Evans becomes the e-commerce company’s new managing director, EMEA, having previously served as director of EMEA expansion and partnerships.

Birk Angermann, meanwhile, becomes head of revenue following a stint as head of global solutions engineering.

In her new role, Shopify said Evans will be responsible for expanding growth in the region with a focus on the partner ecosystem and setting the agenda for team culture within the EMEA markets.

As head of revenue, Angermann will take responsibility for evolving Shopify’s sales and solution engineering teams in EMEA – with the role targeting at assisting customers as they navigate Shopify’s platform.

“I’m excited for the challenge of taking on a role that will empower our merchants and partners in EMEA to continue to grow,” Evans said of her new role. “I hope that, by working with our merchants and partners across the region, we can help to drive growth and wealth for all.”

Angermann noted that combining the work of both the solutions and the sales teams into one will enable Shopify to offer the best service possible.

Highlighting his excitement for the new service combination, Angermann said: “Our aim is to help merchants overcome challenges and quickly gain value through Shopify from helping them to integrate a new platform through to developing tailor-made solutions to support them in creating a holistic commerce strategy which many need to propel their businesses forward.”

In February, Shopify recorded a 26 per cent uplift in its revenue, with the company's president Harley Finkelstein attributing the positive result to the resilience of its merchants.
