Shopify has introduced Shopify Collabs to help creators connect with merchants.
The new feature has been launched because most creators - small businesses and sole traders offering products, services and content and hoping to build their brands - struggle to make money and become independent, with only 4 per cent of creators making content full time, according to Shopify.
Shopify Collabs will bring brands and creators together and make it simple for creators to monetise, while giving merchants a new sales and marketing channel, the company said.
Launching initially in the US and Canada, creators are now able to discover and partner with merchants on Shopify after setting up a storefront using Shopfiy’s starter plan priced at $7 per month.
Once a creator finds a merchant to partner with, they can use Linkpop, Shopify’s free link in bio tool built for commerce, to curate a selection of products to share on their preferred social and entertainment platforms.
Amir Kabbara, director of product at Shopify, commented: “Shopify is where the world's best independent brands go to build their businesses.
“With Shopify Collabs, we’re making it simple for creators to discover and partner with these brands so they can make more money and reach economic independence.”
She added: "In the future, Collabs will be fully integrated with Shopify, giving creators access to more parts of our platform and accelerating their journey as entrepreneurs."
