Tesco adds makeup to online deliveries

Customers at Tesco can now order makeup products for home delivery or Click and Collect.

Over 300 items from Rimmel and Sally Hansen are available for customers to purchase online, with Tesco adding other brands including L’Oréal Paris and Maybelline next year.

The supermarket added that delivery will be available from the majority of stores, with the company will rolling out the service to the remaining locations early next year.

Tesco said it made the move in response to customer demand after finding that that “mascara”, “Rimmel” and “Maybelline” were some of the most searched-for products that weren’t available for home delivery on its website.

Tom Lye, Tesco’s category director for health and beauty, said: “Customers tell us that they often search on our website and app for makeup and nail products, so we are incredibly excited to be able to answer their beauty needs for the first time, and bring customers even more of the products they are looking for at Tesco.”

The move comes after Tesco raised its profit guidance following strong sales growth and a fall in food prices during the six months to 26 August.

Over the period, the supermarket said revenue grew by five per cent to £34.1 billion.

UK sales rose by 8.7 per cent, while retail adjusted operating profit grew by 13.5 per cent to £1.4 billion.
