Walmart launches Roblox virtual experience

Walmart has launched a new virtual experience on gaming platform Roblox to allow shoppers to discover new products and creators.

Walmart Discovered will spotlight over 300 community creators such as digital fashion designers over the next four months, the company said.

The retailer added that these creators will be able to monetise the sales of their virtual items via Robux, which is Roblox’s native currency.

Users will be able to save virtual items or experiences for purchase at a later date, as well as customise their experiences with a selfie corner to create social media content and show off what their avatar is wearing.

The move comes after H&M created a temporary game in the metaverse to coincide with a Stranger Things themed collection.

The Roblox partnership with the fashion retailer builds on the Loooptopia experience on the platform which the retailer launched in January.

Forever 21 recently celebrated a year on Roblox by launching a fashion collection inspired by the metaverse. The collection featured hoodies and t-shirts designed using elements from the company’s virtual offerings.
