Aldi to create 800 new store roles before end of the year

Aldi has said that it will hire 800 employees across new UK stores between now and Christmas.

The move comes as the budget supermarket retailer plans a number of new store openings in towns and cities across the UK, including in Oldham, Flitwick and Coventry.

The company said that the roles available will include managerial positions, caretakers and cleaners, as well as store apprentices.

Last year Aldi took over Morrisons as the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, with over 990 stores and around 40,000 employees.

“As we continue to invest in new stores, we’re looking for hundreds more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country,” said Kelly Stokes, recruitment director, Aldi UK. “Working at Aldi means a great working environment and real opportunities to progress within the business and we look forward to welcoming even more people to be a part of our success in the future.”

The German discounter recently announced it was cutting the prices of fresh fruit and vegetables by up to 36 per cent.
