Almost three quarters - 72 per cent - of all sales were made on mobile this Black Friday, according to data from e-commerce platform Shopify.
The proportion of sales made via mobile in the UK was up 5 per cent from 67 per cent in 2020, according to the Canadian company’s data.
Shopify’s data also said that the average basket cost was £65.60 for its platform’s UK users, up from £58.89 last Black Friday.
The data said the peak sales hour in the UK was 10:00am GMT.
London was the most popular city for UK shoppers to make online purchases from according to the data, followed by Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, and Bristol.
Shopify said apparel and accessories was the most popular category of goods for its network’s users, followed by health and beauty, home and garden, food and beverages, and media.
Over a fifth – 22 per cent – of sales were made cross border according to the report.
The United Kingdom and the United States was the most popular cross border pairing, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany, and the United Kingdom and France.
