Carrefour rolls out AI pricing tool across Italian stores

Carrefour is rolling out a new AI pricing tool to more than 200 of its stores in Southern Italy.

Apulia Distribuzione, the Italian grocery retailer which collaborates with brands in the wholesale sector, has arranged the deal to ‘modernise price management’ in the Carrefour outlets.

The technology includes pricing, promotion, markdown and other analytics functions with the aim of automating pricing decisions across different locations, products and formats.

Apulia said the tool, developed by Revionics, will allow it to “improve consumer price perception, increase market share and outprice competitors with confidence”.

“With a variety of formats as well as an expanding assortment and geographic presence, we have added a significant level of complexity to our business,” said Massimo Loporchio, chief information officer at Apulia Distribuzione.

He added: “With this growth, we needed to modernise our approach to price management.”
