Co-op rolls out member price savings on Deliveroo

Co-op has extended member price savings to customers on Deliveroo, giving them access to the same pricing benefits as those it offers in store.

The member prices savings have been introduced across nearly 100 key lines and everyday essentials on the app, with savings of up to 28 per cent.

Co-op member-owners shopping on the platform can add their membership number at checkout.

The retailer has built its online business at pace, with 1,300 of its stores acting as local fulfilment hubs for online orders placed via Deliveroo.

Co-op currently has over 6.2 million members, with plans to reach eight million by 2030.

According to the company, 86 per cent of the UK population now has access to Co-op online groceries via its own online shop and strategic partners.

“Growing and innovating our online quick commerce channels is a fundamental part of our convenience approach,” said Chris Conway, Co-op e-commerce director. “As a co-operative, membership is what makes us different, and we work to create value for our member-owners who are at the very heart of our business.

In January, Co-op announced plans to open 75 new stores in 2025 and refurbish up to 80 existing stores, accelerating its convenience growth across the UK.

The new stores will include both Co-op estate stores and Co-op franchise stores, a sector the retailer has actively pursued recently with strong growth.

In addition to the new stores, around 80 further stores will undergo major refurbishments in 2025, transforming the stores to maximise the potential of Co-op’s existing portfolio of properties and maintain a presence in every UK postal area.

The retailer stated that, in addition to expanding its reach, these plans will enable the Co-op to offer additional services such as parcel collection and returns, payment services, and functioning as fulfilment hubs for the retailer’s leading online quick commerce operations.

Co-op also partnered with parcel locker provider YEEP! last month to install lockers at 30 of the convenience retailer’s stores.

The parcel lockers will be trialled at Co-op stores in locations including Bolton, Bletchley, and Carmarthenshire, with the company saying it plans to roll out lockers to more locations during 2025.
