G-Star RAW chooses cloud platform for supply chain visibility

Denim brand G-Star RAW has chosen RFID company Nedap Retail’s iD cloud to deliver supply chain transparency.

The retailer wanted full inventory visibility to support its omnichannel strategy.

The technology is also supporting Ship-from-Store and BOPIS (Click & Collect) orders, as well as helping to check on incoming goods and optimise availability based on refill suggestions.

“COVID-19 has further underlined the importance of our omni-channel approach. As a brand, you must integrate e-commerce and traditional retail to create a seamless shopping experience for today’s hyper connected consumer,” said Barry van Wijk, G-Star RAW’s head of retail operations Europe. “We have clearly seen a change in the traditional role of stores.”

He added: “They used to be the go-to spot to try and buy denim, but the actual purchase isn’t necessarily made in stores anymore these days. Stores are transforming into an even more important asset to give shoppers a full omni-channel brand experience as we now also use them as mini distribution centres. This enables our customers to pick up an item they have just purchased online or have it delivered to them within a day.”

Supplying demand: how fashion retailers can meet the needs of customers and still be sustainable
The fashion industry is no stranger to breaking the mould and setting trends, but the pursuit of style can come at a huge cost to the environment.

New legislation, such as the European Union's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, will set mandatory minimums for the inclusion of recycled fibres in textiles, making them longer-lasting and easier to repair.
