Iceland and Lotte Mart agree South Korea expansion deal

Iceland Foods has announced a deal with South Korean hypermarket chain Lotte Mart to open concessions stands within its stores.

The deal will see Iceland offer over 30 of its products including frozen foods, chips, and ready meals within branded areas across 45 Lotte Mart stores.

Justin Addison, international and partnerships director at Iceland Foods, said: “We’re really excited to be launching Iceland products with Lotte Mart and re-introducing our range to South Korean shoppers.

“Lotte Mart has a strong reputation for bringing quality products to customers, making them an ideal partner for us. Through the new Iceland Concessions, shoppers will be able to discover some of our most popular frozen foods and experience the convenience, variety and great value that have helped make Iceland a household name in the UK.

This is the second time Iceland has sold food in South Korea, having previously offered its products via the discount retailer Homeplus. In 2025, the supermarket also began offering its products in China, via a partnership with online retailer BTG We-Link.

Iceland is engaging in a number of expansion and cost-cutting efforts to reduce losses, having reported a net loss of £4.7 million in its 2025 financial year. In May, the supermarket announced a partnership with SPAR to bring its frozen foods to 320 SPAR stores across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Last week, Iceland also announced the deployment of a computer vision model made by AI firm SAI, to detect shoplifting and product losses. The supermarket said the new tools can reduce theft, retail losses, and shrink by 80 per cent
