JD Sports Dutch subsidiary ‘declared bankrupt’

Sports Unlimited, a Dutch subsidiary of JD Sports, has been declared bankrupt.

The company operates around 50 stores in the Netherlands.

“We appreciate this is a difficult time for Sports Unlimited Retail colleagues in the Netherlands and we are doing our utmost to support them in conjunction with ISRG and the bankruptcy trustee,” said a spokesperson for Sports Unlimited, as reported by Reuters.

In 2021, JD Sports announced it was selling Sports Unlimited for £14 million to Iberian Sports Retail Group (ISRG).

As the parent to ISRG, the company continued to make strategic decisions regarding the company’s future.
