John Lewis Partnership appoints Andy Mounsey as permanent chief financial officer

The John Lewis Partnership has appointed Andy Mounsey as its chief financial officer with immediate effect, after he held the position on an interim basis since autumn 2024.

Mounsey, who has been with the retailer for 13 years, previously served as the partnership's group finance and strategy director. Before joining John Lewis, he spent 12 years at EY as a chartered accountant, advising large listed clients globally across the consumer sector.

"I'm honoured and excited to take on the role of chief financial officer at such a transformative time for the Partnership," said Mounsey. "We're seeing solid progress in our key financial metrics and continued improvements in customer sentiment. The Partnership is in strong financial health and stepping up investment this year for customers and Partners."

The appointment comes after John Lewis recently announced that its profits had tripled to £126m, with group sales rising 3 per cent to £12.8bn in the 52 weeks to 25 January. This growth was bolstered by a 4.4 per cent uplift in sales across Waitrose to £8bn.

Jason Tarry, chairman of the partnership, praised Mounsey's contribution during his interim period. "Andy's contribution as interim chief financial officer has been invaluable, and it's great to have him as part of the team," said Tarry. "His deep understanding of the Partnership and the retail sector, combined with his extensive experience in various senior finance roles, makes him ideal for this position."

Tarry added: "I'm confident that Andy's leadership will be instrumental in driving our financial strategy and ensuring the long-term success of the Partnership."

Mounsey has also joined the Partnership's Board with immediate effect.

The John Lewis Partnership owns and operates two of Britain's retail brands - John Lewis and Waitrose - with 34 John Lewis shops across the UK and more than 300 Waitrose shops throughout England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands.
