Mollie, the payments business, is partnering with Dutch Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) company in3.
The partnership will give Mollie customers located in the Netherlands access to in3’s BNPL payment method.
Merchants based in other countries will also be able to accept the new payment method for its Dutch customers.
In3, which was launched in 2018, gives consumers the option to pay in three instalments. Its current customers include Kwik Fit, EP, La Souris, Matt Sleeps, and Dekbed-Discounter.
Mollie said that it is considering expanding the payment option to Germany and other European countries.
“Shoppers don’t always have the available funds to pay for what they want, when they need it. By allowing for more flexibility, BNPL can increase conversion rates and the average order value of purchases,” said Ken Serdons, chief commercial officer of Mollie. “We are excited to work with in3 and offer our customers an alternative interest-free BNPL payment method with a guaranteed payout.
Additionally, in3 also highly values the importance of localisation when it comes to payments, which is a key and core value of Mollie.”
The move comes as in3 announces an $85 million Series B funding round.
“We’re thrilled to have secured this funding round,” said Hans Langenhuizen, chief executive of in3. “It is testament to the scale and growth of our proposition in the BNPL community.
“We will be expanding further in the Netherlands through the partnership with Mollie and plan to launch in Germany soon. Over the past year, we have invested in our tech stack and team to prepare for the next phase of the business.
“The new funds will help us process transactions on a larger scale, both online and in the physical stores. We’re grateful to all our investors as we enter our growth phase.”
