Morrisons to recruit 3,000 people for festive season

Morrisons is recruiting up to 3,000 people to work in its stores, food manufacturing sites and logistics operations across the country to help meet increased demand over the festive season.

The retailer said there are a wide range of roles available including customer assistants, home delivery drivers and warehouse operatives with a range of flexible working patterns.

No prior experience is necessary for most roles and Morrisons added that in previous years many temporary employees had gone on to find permanent positions within the supermarket.

All seasonal employees will benefit from a 15 per cent staff discount card as well as a 10 per cent discount card for a friend or family member.

“We are looking forward to welcoming these new colleagues who will have a key role in creating and delivering products to make our customers celebrations special,” said Clare Grainger, group people director at Morrisons. “There are lots of opportunities all across the UK to join us with both temporary and permanent roles in our stores, manufacturing and logistics sites.”

Several other UK supermarkets have recently announced the launch of their recruitment drives for the Christmas period, with Marks and Spencer revealing earlier this month that it is looking for 11,000 people to work in its stores across the country.

Earlier this week, Sainsbury’s shared the news that it will employ 20,000 extra workers over the Christmas period across its supermarkets and Argos stores.

Retail should not be a high-risk occupation. As a company, we are focused on listening to our colleagues and customers to help them with the issues they are facing in-store and so far, the feedback on our body cameras has been excellent. They act as a great visual deterrent, help to de-escalate situations and overall, this project has significantly aided our goal to make the retail environment safer.
