Payments Awards 2019 winners announced

SWIFT and Token.io both celebrated double wins at last night’s Payments Awards.

Now in its seventh year, the payment sector’s biggest event of the year was celebrated with a glitzy gala dinner at the Marriott in London’s Grosvenor Square.

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, or SWIFT, took home the Best Cross-Border Payments Solution and Payments Infrastructure Award, while open banking platform Token.io won Payments Start-up of the Year and PSD2 or Open Banking Initiative of the Year.

Elsewhere, SmartTrade App chairman and chief strategy officer Gary Prince was named a Payments Pioneer, while Wirecard and its subsidiary McLEAR won Marketing Campaign of the Year and Best Contactless Payments Project, respectively.
