Soprema Group expands logistics capabilities

UK-based building products supplier Soprema Group has expanded its logistics capabilities as it seeks to strengthen its footprint in the market.

The company has signed a partnership with XPO Logistics, a specialist in end-to-end logistics provider whose services include full loads, pallet distribution, last-mile deliveries, global forwarding and warehouse services.

With this deal, XPO will act as a ‘one-stop shop’ for the distribution needs of Soprema Group in the UK, managing the logistics of all its brands.

Soprema Group's five operating sites in Witham, Hadleigh, Eggborough, Worksop and Chesterfield will all be supported by a mix of main fleet, transport partners and pallet network operations. A main fleet of 23 trucks and 47 trailers will carry Soprema Group livery.

Soprema said it will also leverage XPO's fourth party logistics (4PL) expertise and technology to simplify the handling of construction materials, ranging from mechanical unloading and full truck loading to groupage and pallet network shipments.

Fourth-party logistics (4PL) is a logistics model in which a company outsources the management of the entire supply chain to an external provider.

XPO will also provide a CO2 emissions dashboard as part of the move, supporting Soprema's goals of switching its core fleet to HVO fuel in 2025.
