Tailored Brands taps Best Buy for new chief customer officer

Tailored Brands, a US omnichannel menswear retailer, has hired Whit Alexander as its new chief customer officer, effective February 24.

Prior to joining Tailored Brands, Alexander was a partner at McKinsey & Company where he has advised consumer goods companies seeking growth transformation since 2023.

Between 2017 and 2021, he was executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Best Buy. Previous roles at the consumer electronics retailer included chief transformation officer, chief marketing officer and senior vice president, focusing on personalisation, loyalty and strategy.

In 2019, he was appointed chief strategy officer, where he was responsible for Best Buy's enterprise data and analytics capability, business development, strategy, budget and planning.

At Best Buy, he was responsible for redefining the company's brand strategy and purpose, leading the company's positioning, membership and corporate strategy work, leading the organisation's activities in media and financial services, and implementing analytics-based personalisation initiatives to provide better customer service.

From 2012 to 2015, he was with Target Corporation, where he served as vice president, guest planning and loyalty marketing and vice president, guest insights and marketing business intelligence.

At Tailored Brands, Alexander will be responsible for creating personalised brand experiences and building customer loyalty. He will be responsible for accelerating growth and overseeing the company's data, analytics and strategy functions.

He will also serve on the company's executive committee, reporting to Peter Sachse, managing director of Tailored Brands.

"Alexander’s well-rounded view of retail environments and insightful approach to commercialisation within omnichannel environments will help us accelerate efforts to build personalised experiences that speak to our customers and achieve new levels of brand loyalty,” said Sachse.

Tailored Brands product offering includes suits, formalwear and a broad selection of business casual offerings, with brands including Men's Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, Moores and K&G Fashion Superstore.
