Yodel partners with what3words

Yodel has announced a new partnership with location tech company what3words.

As part of the partnership, what3words will integrate its location system into the delivery company’s customer app.

The what3words platform has divided the world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares, assigning each square a unique combination of three words, which represents a what3words address.

what3words said the move will enable customers to specify their delivery address with exact accuracy, with the aim of making it easier for delivery drivers to find ambiguous or hard-to-find locations.

According to the company, a quarter of people in the UK find that their full postal address doesn't direct people or deliveries exactly to their front door, with some post codes covering broad areas, specific building entrances not always obvious, and street names often being duplicated.

"We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with what3words,” said Michaela Simpson, customer experience director, Yodel. “Our mission is to make deliveries as seamless as possible for our customers and by incorporating what3words' technology into our services, we are enhancing the accuracy of our deliveries and ensuring that our customers have a hassle-free experience, no matter where they are located."
