Amazon expands same day food delivery service across the UK

Amazon has expanded its same day fresh food deliveries to customers in over 100 areas in the UK.

Customers will be able to order a variety of products brands and retailers including Morrisons, Amazon Fresh and Iceland depending on services available in the area.

Prime members will receive free two-hour delivery on Amazon Fresh online orders above £60, while all other Amazon Fresh customers get a free two-hour delivery slot for orders above £80.

Later this month, Amazon will launch a new programme offering prime members promotions on grocery products and claims customers could receive discounts as high as 50 per cent.

Additionally, Amazon has installed automated returns kiosks (ARK) at its Amazon Fresh stores at Liverpool Street and Moorgate in London.

In a LinkedIn post, Aline Morais, program manager at Amazon, said that the new technology would enhance the customer experience in the stores.

“The ARK provides a seamless, self-serve method for processing LFBF (label-free-box-free) returns, much like a self-checkout experience,” she wrote. “This addition, alongside our self-serve pick-up lockers, allows customers to handle all their pick-up and return missions from any AUKF shop.”

In April, Amazon announced it will more than double the number of third-party stores using its ‘Just Walk Out’ technology this year.

There are already around 140 third-party locations across the US, UK, Canada and Australia using the technology including at conference centres, hospitals and entertainment venues.
