Amazon grocery lead to step down after nearly 3 years

Amazon’s grocery boss has announced he is stepping down from the role.

“After nearly three years at Amazon, it’s time for the next step in my career,” wrote Tony Hoggett, Amazon senior vice president of worldwide grocery stores in a LinkedIn post. “My time at Amazon has been incredible, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support, guidance and friendship.”

He went on to say that he is “optimistic” about the work Amazon is doing to improve the grocery shopping experience for customers.

Amazon recently announced the launch of a new pilot in Phoenix, US where customers can shop fresh groceries alongside millions of general merchandise products and have them delivered in hours.

The move enables customers to select items from Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh, and Amazon.com and have them delivered in one order.

Hoggett previously worked as group chief strategy innovation officer at Tesco, a role he was only in for four months before joining Amazon.

Prior to that he was group chief operating officer at the supermarket for just under three years.
