Amazon to create 1,500 new UK apprenticeships

Amazon is set to create 1,500 new apprenticeships in the UK during 2022.

The retail giant said the move would include the introduction of more than 40 schemes, 200 of which it said would be degree level.

Amazon said the apprenticeships will include areas such as publishing, retailing, marketing, and an ESG programme.

In addition, the retail giant said it grew its permanent UK workforce by 25,000 in 2021, taking the total to 70,000, hiring across areas such as research and development, operations, and corporate functions.

The news comes as the number of technology roles in England and Wales reached record highs in 2021, according to new research by recruitment consultancy Robert Walters and data analytics company Vacancysoft.

The study found that there were more than 12,800 new vacancies for tech professionals compared to last year.
