Amazon.com ‘most-visited’ e-commerce website in the world

The world’s most visited retail websites have been revealed in a survey conducted by price comparison and switching website Uswitch.

Amazon (Amazon.com) topped the price comparison website’s list of most visited e-commerce websites globally, with 2.38 billion visitors per month. It was followed by ebay.com and Amazon.co.jp (Japan) with 761.1 million and 589 million monthly visits respectively.

Amazon.com was the most visited e-commerce website in the US, Iraq, Kuwait, and Morocco while four of Amazon’s regional domains (including Amazon Japan) – amazon.co.uk, the UK’s most visited e-commerce website with 371.5 million visits per month; India’s amazon.in; and Germany’s amazon.de – each placed in the global top 20.

Other regional Amazon domains were the most visited e-commerce websites in 10 other countries including France and Spain.

USwitch concluded that Amazon had captured the wants and needs of the fast-paced generation who can now order anything they want (from furniture to groceries) and have it delivered in just 24 hours.

Other e-commerce websites that featured in the top 20 included Etsy, Walmart, and Chinese shopping platform Tao Bao.
