Asda has strengthened its leadership with the announcement of several new hires.
Liz Evans will take on the role of chief commercial officer, non-food and retail.
She will lead large store operations on a permanent basis alongside her duties overseeing the George clothing brand.
Evans has worked at the supermarket since January 2022, joining from clothing company FatFace, where she spent almost three years as chief executive.
Asda is also bolstering its food team, led by the supermarket’s chief commercial officer Kris Comerford, with the appointment of Ade McKeon, who rejoins as Asda as vice president –ambient.
Gemma Lightbody will re-join Asda from Marks and Spencer, where she worked for three years as head of trade ambient core basket. She will take on the role of business unit director for impulse grocery reporting to McKeon.
Matt Shields will join from Aldi as business unit director for core grocery and current Asda employee Matt Wood will take on the role of SD commercial operations, reporting directly to Comerford.
Additionally, Asda said it has also created the position of chief supply chain officer to oversee all its food and general merchandise operations. Asda did not announce who will take on the role.
“Asda's mission is to deliver the value ordinary working people, and their families demand from us,” said Allan Leighton, Asda's executive chairman. “To do this, we need to be and are rediscovering our 'Asda-ness'.
“I'm delighted to be announcing these leadership changes as we start this journey."
