Asda cuts prices on 2,500 items

Asda has announced that it is cutting prices on around 2,500 products by an average of 26 per cent to help customers cope with the rising costs of inflation.

Prices have been reduced on a variety of products, including washing powder, cheese, and pre-prepared sauces.

Asda stated that the price drop initiative would last until the end of the month and be available on items both in stores and online.

The supermarket said that the investment in price reductions was in response to its research, which found that despite household spending power continuing to improve, inflation would continue to challenge customers in 2025.

“We know that as we come out of the festive period, budgets can be a concern for many families,” said David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Asda. “Our Big Jan Price Drop aims to ease that burden and make money stretch further for our customers by reducing the prices of the products they’re buying week in, week out, continuing to offer uncompromising value to all.”

In November last year, the British Retail Council (BRC) warned that the long-running trend of falling shop prices may be coming to an end. November was the first time in 17 months that shop prices were higher than the previous month, falling by 0.6 per cent compared with a fall of 0.8 per cent in October.
