BestBuy rolls out AI live tracking

BestBuy has rolled out a new live AI- supported tracking feature that aims to improve the delivery and installation experience for its customers.

The feature is currently available for large product orders such as screen TVs, refrigerators, washers and dryers.

The “to-the-minute" home delivery tracking feature provides details on the progress of order deliveries, including a real-time map view that shows driver locations along their route.

The electronics retailer aims to use data to track predicted demand and real-time patterns in order to reduce delivery lead times, optimise routes, and ultimately provide customers with live estimated time of arrivals.

On the day of delivery, customers receive a message with an estimated time of arrival within a four-hour window and details such as the time the driver is assigned, steps for customers to prepare for their delivery, and a ‘track progress’ button that provides a live delivery tracking map.

When the driver is close to the arrival location, the real-time tracking provides a zoomed map with street views and more specific details on the location of drivers.

“Our new live-delivery tracking experience removes the frustration so many of us have felt when we’re given a window of time to wait around at home for an appointment or a larger delivery to arrive,” said Brian Tilzer, chief digital, analytics and technology officer at Best Buy. “We know our customers’ time is extremely valuable, and we’re proud to bring a level of convenience to technology delivery and installation that nobody is currently providing.”
