Booking.com has announced the rollout of several new genAI features, including reviews summaries.
The digital travel platform is currently trialling the new technology, which is designed to provide key insights about a hotel or property without the need to browse through numerous reviews.
Eventually the will be able to put reviews into tailored summaries which can highlight areas that are most important to the customer, like distance from the beach or wheelchair accessibility.
The company said that its review summaries will be launched officially following further experimentation.
The online business has also launched a smart filter tool to enable customers to describe their ideal property in their own words.
The genAI technology is able to scan the website’s entire inventory to automatically apply the most relevant filters, removing the need for manual filtering.
Additionally, Booking.com has rolled out Propery Q&A, where travellers can ask specific questions about a property.
GenAI instantly retrieves relevant information from the property listing, traveller reviews, and photos.
Both the smart filter and Property Q&A features are live and available to customers in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore via mobile app.
“Our journey with AI for over a decade has always been about leveraging technology to make travel more intuitive and personalised, helping us fulfil our mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world,” said Joe Futty, VP of product marketplace at Booking.com. “With genAI, we’re not just enhancing the trip planning process—we’re facilitating more tailored experiences that adapt and respond to travellers’ needs faster than ever before."
Futty added that looking ahead genAI will continue to play a "proactive role" in managing trips, improving the overall travel experience, and helping travellers navigate disruptions like flight cancellations with real-time information.
