Subway's current chief information officer (CIO), Dave Blankenship, has stepped down after five years in the role.
Blankenship was responsible for overseeing the company’s global technology team, including key initiatives that deliver modern and efficient platforms for Subway’s franchisees and guests.
Joining the firm in 2020, he previously served as chief technology officer until December 2024.
Prior to joining Subway, Blankeship spent more than a decade with Marriott International where he held various positions supporting IT and enterprise applications.
Joining the firm in 2003 as senior director, ebusiness systems, he was promoted to vice president, enterprise applications in 2014.
In this role, he was responsible for application development for commercial initiatives for Marriott International's reservations platform, which has over 7,000 properties worldwide.
The CIO has not yet announced where he will be moving to.
In a LinkedIn post, Blankenship said: “After more than five fantastic years, I have decided to transition out of Subway at the end of the year.”
He described his career at Subway as “an incredible journey”, adding that he is grateful to have worked alongside “such talented colleagues and dedicated franchisees".
“Together, we made real progress by elevating the guest experience, strengthening operations, and moving the business forward in meaningful ways,” he said.
“I will always value the relationships, memories and lessons that shaped my time here, and I am excited to carry them into my next chapter,” he added.
Commenting on Blankenship’s departure, Subway said that he had been “instrumental” in advancing its technology pipeline, working closely with franchisees to deliver “high-performing technology solutions” to help improve profitability and drive operational excellence in restaurants.
