Colruyt Group to expand into B2B market with new stores

Belgium-based retail corporation Colruyt Group has announced its intentions to expand in the B2B market.

The group, which owns supermarket chains including Colruyt and Okay, said it will open Colruyt Professionals stores in Wandre, a sub-municipality of Liège in the Wallonia region and Charleroi following the success of two Colruyt Professionals store in Brussels.

The stores are aimed at night shops, grocery shops and resellers and the company said it aims to launch around ten Colruyt Professionals stores across Belgium over the coming years.

Colruyt Group said the stock of around 3,000 items is determined by the top selling products in nearby Colruyt stores. This will be updated in response to customer demand.

The site in Wandre is a former warehouse and will have a total surface area of 1,500 m2. Colruyt said it has been designed for those shopping in larger quantities and includes wider aisles, flat carts for volume purchases and a loading platform for large quantity purchases on pallets.

Benjamin Chantraine, the store manager of Colruyt Professionals, said professional customers who usually buy their stock from Colruyt Lowest Prices stores will find services more suited to their needs.

“The store assistants, for instance, whose focus is on providing excellent service and efficiency, are always on hand to assist and often have personal contact with customers in relation to their orders,” he added. “This makes customers feel unique and welcome.”
