Croatian supermarket chain Konzum has rolled out an AI-powered platform to boost its e-grocery operations as it seeks to meet rising consumer demand for online grocery services.
Thanks to its partnership with Instaleap, a company specialising in e-commerce and AI for retail,
The new platform, developed by Instaleap, will unify a range of features, such as consolidating orders from different channels, including websites, apps and marketplaces, into a single platform.
The platform’s AI-based tools also aim to optimise in-store picking routes, assign tasks to staff based on availability, and boost batch processing of orders to speed up delivery.
When items are out of stock, its AI powered capabilities aim to suggest substitutes based on customer behaviour and purchase history, without the need for manual intervention.
The platform also provides real-time information on order accuracy, fulfilment speed and customer satisfaction, helping the retailer complete data-driven decisions.
In a social media post, Instaleap VP International Bas Groot said: “This partnership embodies what Instaleap stands for, building lasting partnerships with forward-thinking retailers to transform e-commerce operations: faster, smarter, and at scale.”
Other major retailers including Walmart and Carrefour have previously implemented the same platform to boost their e-grocery operations.
Damia Villatoro, chief executive at Instaleap Europe added in a post on Linkedin: “Konzum joins a growing network of retail leaders who are choosing Instaleap to optimise fulfilment and drive real operational impact.”
In 2024, Konzum, which currently has over 600 stores across 300 cities and towns and approximately 10,000 employees, reported that it had fulfilled 229,000 online orders, recording a 13.2 per cent increase in online sales revenue.
