DFS hires Currys CFO as independent director

Furniture retailer DFS has hired Bruce Marsh as independent non-executive director of the company.

He joins DFS on 1 August from Currys, where he has worked as chief financial officer since July 2021.

Marsh also worked as finance director at Tesco for six years, prior to this Marsh held various roles at Kingfisher and Dixons.

Marsh will also become a member of the audit committee, remuneration committee and nomination committee at DFS.

The furniture retailer said Marsh has a “strong financial track record” over his career in retail and has successfully delivered large complex business transformations in rapidly changing environments.

It added that independent non-Executive Director, Loraine Martins, has decided to step down from the board of directors with effect from the 31 July this year.

"I am delighted that Bruce is joining the Board. His significant retail experience as the CFO of Curry's is directly relevant to the DFS strategy,” said Steve Johnson, chairman at DFS. “His extensive experience leading finance teams, maintaining robust financial controls and improving planning and performance, for ‘big ticket item’ retailers will bring valuable experience and insight to the board.”
