Doddle to launch Neighbour parcel collection

Doddle, the network of purple parcel stores across the UK, has announced that it will be launching Doddle Neighbour, a service where individuals and businesses can earn an income by using their homes or premises as a parcel collection point for their local community.

Speaking about alleviating the growing congestion on city streets, London’s mayor Boris Johnson recently made calls for more click and collect hubs in residential areas, stating: “We need to work with operators to build up a more sensible system whereby click and collect stores and hubs are in people’s neighbourhoods.”

Doddle hopes that the introduction of these new click and collect points in residential areas will have environmental benefits too. The guarantee of first time deliveries means that van drivers can make more deliveries with fewer vans. This consolidation benefit across the entire market of one billion parcel deliveries could result in the removal of 18,696 vans off UK roads every day, the company noted.

Tim Robinson, chief executive officer at Doddle, said: “Doddle Neighbour formalises the concept of taking in parcels for your neighbours, something thousands of Brits do every day across the UK. The difference is Doddle is going to pay them to do it.

“Neighbour is about bringing Doddle services to local communities, taking parcels the final metre, not just the final mile, so that customers can send and receive parcels at a time and place that’s most convenient for them.”
